Enter your pay, how often you are paid and your Form W-4 choices, and this Wyoming paycheck calculator shows your 2026 take-home pay. Wyoming withholds no state income tax from wages, so only federal tax, Social Security and Medicare come out, and the employer's side of the bill is worked out right under it.

## Wyoming has no individual income tax, so the only taxes on a paycheck are federal.

The Legislative Service Office's report on the state's tax structure says Wyoming lacks both an individual and a corporate income tax, which is why the state has no withholding form and no tables. What is left on a Wyoming pay stub is federal income tax withholding, Social Security and Medicare, then whatever you set aside before tax.

## A $60,000 Wyoming salary takes home $1,938.07 every two weeks.

The calculator opens on this case: a single employee on a standard Form W-4, paid every two weeks, with no pre-tax deductions.

- Gross pay: $60,000 ÷ 26 = $2,307.69
- Federal income tax: $193.08 ($60,000 less the $8,600 of IRS Worksheet 1A is $51,400; $1,240 plus 12% of everything over $19,900 is $5,020 a year)
- Social Security: 6.2% × $2,307.69 = $143.08; Medicare: 1.45% = $33.46
- Wyoming income tax: $0.00
- Take-home pay: $1,938.07 a paycheck, $50,389.88 a year

## Wyoming's own minimum wage is $5.15 an hour, but the federal $7.25 applies to most workers.

The Department of Workforce Services says Wyoming law sets the minimum wage at $5.15 and that most workers must be paid at least the federal minimum wage of $7.25. A full week at $7.25 is $290.00 gross, and after federal tax, Social Security and Medicare it is $267.81 take-home.

_Figure: Bar chart for a single employee at the federal minimum wage, 40 hours a week, paid 52 times a year. Federal income tax: $0 · 0%; Social Security: $935 · 6.2%; Medicare: $219 · 1.5%; Wyoming income tax: $0 · 0%; Take-home pay: $13,926 · 92.3%._

## State law requires overtime only on public works projects, so most workers rely on the federal rule.

On a public works project, workers are generally entitled to time and one-half for any work over 40 hours in a week. For everyone else the federal Fair Labor Standards Act sets the same one and one-half times the regular rate after 40 hours, and the calculator's hourly mode splits overtime there. The chart shows one week at $20 an hour with 40, 46 and 52 hours. For a week with unpaid breaks, the [hourly paycheck calculator](https://www.teampredict.ai/tools/hourly-paycheck-calculator) works out the paid hours.

_Figure: Bar chart of one week of pay at $20.00 an hour, single, paid weekly, for 40 hours: $800.00 gross, $684.72 take-home; 46 hours: $980.00 gross, $829.35 take-home; 52 hours: $1,160.00 gross, $973.98 take-home._

Invented example at $20.00 an hour. Hours over 40 are paid at time and one-half.

## A 401(k) takes $138.46 of a paycheck and costs $121.84 of take-home pay.

With no state tax to lower, the whole saving is federal: a 6% deferral on the $60,000 example cuts federal withholding by $16.62 a paycheck. Social Security and Medicare are still taken on the full $2,307.69.

_Figure: Bar chart of the tax withheld from one biweekly paycheck on a $60,000 salary, single: Federal tax, no 401(k): $193.08; Federal tax, 6% 401(k): $176.46; Wyoming tax, no 401(k): $0.00; Wyoming tax, 6% 401(k): $0.00._

Invented example: a $60,000 salary, single, paid every two weeks. 6% of pay is $138.46 a paycheck.

## Hiring that employee costs $64,933 a year in Wyoming.

On top of the $60,000, the employer matches Social Security and Medicare at 6.2% and 1.45%, which is $4,590. It pays federal unemployment tax of 0.6% on the first $7,000, which is $42. Wyoming unemployment tax is charged on the first $33,800 of pay. A new employer's rate is its industry base rate plus four other factors, so this page uses the state's average, 0.89%, which is $300.82. The employee pays nothing toward it.

_Figure: Bar chart of the employer's taxes on an employee on a $60,000 salary: Employer Social Security $3,720; Employer Medicare $870; Wyoming unemployment $301; Federal unemployment (FUTA) $42. Together $4,933, for a total cost of $64,933 a year._

## Your last paycheck is due by the next regular payday, and Wyoming requires no breaks.

When you leave a job, the employer pays final wages on its next regular payday. Unused vacation is owed only if the employer has a policy or has promised it, and a use-it-or-lose-it rule needs a fair chance to take the days. State law does not require meal or rest breaks, and an employer may make deductions, for example for cash register shortages or broken equipment, only under the state's wage offset rules.

## Take-home pay in Wyoming runs from $34,320 on $40,000 to $113,791 on $150,000.

For a single employee on a standard Form W-4, paid every two weeks. At $100,000 the year's take-home is $79,180. For the neighbor to the north, see the [Montana paycheck calculator](https://www.teampredict.ai/tools/paycheck-calculator/montana).

## Frequently asked questions

Does Wyoming have a state income tax?

No. The Legislative Service Office's report on the state's tax structure says Wyoming lacks both an individual and a corporate income tax, and the state collects its revenue mainly from sales and use taxes, investment income and severance taxes on minerals. Nothing is withheld for the state, so a Wyoming paycheck loses federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare, plus anything you choose to set aside, such as a 401(k) or health premiums.

How much is $60,000 a year after tax in Wyoming?

For a single employee on a standard Form W-4 who is paid every two weeks, a $60,000 salary takes home $1,938.07 a paycheck, or $50,389.88 a year. The year's taxes are $5,020.08 of federal income tax, $3,720.08 of Social Security and $869.96 of Medicare.

How much is $20 an hour after tax in Wyoming?

At 40 hours a week and weekly pay, $20 an hour is $800.00 gross and $684.72 take-home a week for a single employee with a standard Form W-4. That is $54.08 of federal income tax, $49.60 of Social Security and $11.60 of Medicare. Switch the calculator to hourly and type your own hours, including overtime.

What is the minimum wage in Wyoming?

Wyoming law sets it at $5.15 an hour, but the Department of Workforce Services says most workers must be paid at least the federal minimum wage of $7.25, because federal law covers most businesses. A 40-hour week at $7.25 is $290.00 gross and $267.81 take-home.

Does Wyoming require overtime pay?

Not generally under state law. The Department of Workforce Services says the exception is public works projects, where workers are generally entitled to time and one-half for any work over 40 hours in a week. Most employees are covered by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act instead, which pays one and one-half times the regular rate after 40 hours. The calculator splits overtime at 40 hours a week, so type your overtime hours in hourly mode.

When is my last paycheck due in Wyoming?

By the employer's next regular payday, when you leave a job (W.S. 27-4-104). Unused vacation is not owed unless the employer has a policy or promise to pay it, and the Department says use-it-or-lose-it rules are allowed only if the employee had a fair chance to take the days. An employee cannot be required to use direct deposit, and an employer may make deductions only under the state's rules, for example for loans or damages.

Does Wyoming require breaks?

No. The Department of Workforce Services says state law does not require an employer to provide meal or rest breaks. Use the Hourly Paycheck Calculator to take your own unpaid breaks out of a week's hours.

What does a 401(k) do to my Wyoming paycheck?

It lowers take-home pay by less than you put in. Putting 6% of a $60,000 salary into a 401(k) is $138.46 a paycheck, but take-home pay falls by only $121.84, because federal income tax withholding drops by $16.62. Wyoming has no income tax to lower, and Social Security and Medicare are still taken on the full pay.

Who pays unemployment tax in Wyoming, and how much is it?

The employer does, to the Department of Workforce Services, and nothing comes out of your paycheck for it. The 2026 taxable wage base is $33,800 per employee and rises to $34,900 in 2027. Wyoming gives a new employer no single rate: it is a base rate for the employer's industry plus four other rate factors. This page uses the state's average rate on taxable wages, 0.89% in the U.S. Labor Department's 2024 report, which is $300.82 a year for an employee paid $60,000, and your own notice may differ.
