Overtime rules
The FLSA rule: overtime after 40 hours in the workweek.
All hours in your fixed seven-day workweek. Long single days do not count on their own.
A nondiscretionary bonus, shift differential or commission earned this week. It raises the regular rate.

$150.00 of overtime · 5 hours at $30.00
Your week, before tax

1.5 × the regular rate
40 hours × $20.00
5 hours × $30.00
How the regular rate is set
($20.00 × 45 h + $0.00) ÷ 45 h = $20.00 an hour
The week's straight-time pay divided by every hour worked. Each hour over 40 then earns half that rate again.
